Being a Single Mother of Twins
My life has definitely changed! From partying and traveling whenever I get the chance to becoming a mother.
Raising twins is hard, but being a single parent with heart disease is even harder. Add having a son that has a kidney disease is probably the toughest thing a mother has to deal with.
There are days that I just sit down and cry. I keep asking myself why am I so emotional knowing that I have these two blessings from God that others don’t or are unable to have.
Whoever tells you that being a single parent doesn't come with all type of emotions; well let's just say they lied to you.
In a perfect world, I always thought I would be a graduate, find that one God fearing man and start a family. haha!
I quickly found out that this isn't the perfect world but I can truly say I have the best life ever! Being a single mother might be difficult but it is known that God gives his toughest battles to his strongest warriors.
It is okay to be stress at times, and to lose your sense of self. Moments like these are teachable moments to me. That's when I learn to be patient, take a deep breath and ask God for help. PRAYER IS THE KEY!
We are often expected to be super mommy all the time, especially when the other parent is not in the picture.
I remember listening to "superwoman by Alicia Keys" one day after having a stressful day at work, school and coming home to my kids. I could feel my stress from work came home with me and Lord knows, after yelling at my kids for minor things. I went to my room, cried and prayed! In the song Keys said"For all the mothers fighting, For better days to come...........When I'm breaking down And I can't be found...And I start to get weak Cause no one knows...Me underneath these clothes...But I can fly". I quickly realized that no matter what I am and what others think of a "single mothers" I was a superwoman in my kids eyes and that was all that I needed.
I salute every single parent out there and I pray that we can raise our children to be a bright, intelligent men and women.
Whenever you are down, PRAY
When you are happy, PRAY
When you think you just can't take it anymore, PRAY
Next time you are stress about where to get food or clothes, remember what God said in Mathew 6:25-34
"Do Not Worry25 “Therefore I tell you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or drink; or about your body, what you will wear. Is not life more than food, and the body more than clothes? 26 Look at the birds of the air; they do not sow or reap or store away in barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not much more valuable than they? 27 Can any one of you by worrying add a single hour to your life[a]?28 “And why do you worry about clothes? See how the flowers of the field grow. They do not labor or spin. 29 Yet I tell you that not even Solomon in all his splendor was dressed like one of these. 30 If that is how God clothes the grass of the field, which is here today and tomorrow is thrown into the fire, will he not much more clothe you—you of little faith? 31 So do not worry, saying, ‘What shall we eat?’ or ‘What shall we drink?’ or ‘What shall we wear?’ 32 For the pagans run after all these things, and your heavenly Father knows that you need them. 33 But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well.34 Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own".
*According to a study by researchers at the University of Florida "They discovered that mistreatment at the office reduces an employee’s self-regulation skills, it means it is difficult for a person to control or manage their emotions at home, if they are stress at work. Furthermore, reacting in a way that they might regret later on.
However, the study found out that by doing these two things before heading home would help improve your mental stage and reduce your stress.
*Getting lots of sleep the night before
*Exercising before heading home from work
DO NOT WORRY, GOD GOT YOU!
